We are a family run Bistro with over 50 years combined experience. Our aim is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you will always feel welcome. The kitchen is run by chefs John Scott and Ian Atkin. The bistro is run by Lisa Atkin and Angela Scott, along with their team of Clare, Megan, Conor, Georgia and Matthew.
All of our food is locally sourced and of the highest quality. Our ambition is to provide you with good, honest food that you will want to come back and try over and over again.
John and his wife Angela both grew up in Billingham. John trained at Darlington Catering College before working in various different hotels, restaurants and pubs, including 20 years, most of these as Head Chef, at the well established Norton Hall. More recently he worked at The Bridge Inn, Grinton, in The Yorkshire Dales.
Angela also worked for many years at Norton Hall, helping run the popular Members’ Bar. More recently she worked as a housekeeper at Milbeck Care Home. You will now find her chatting to everyone that comes by the bistro!
Lisa is John and Angela’s daughter and is married to Ian. She went to York University before travelling with Ian. She has worked for many years in various hotels as a receptionist and more recently as a wedding co-ordinator. She also worked alongside John and Ian as a waitress at The Bridge Inn.
Ian grew up in Hartburn and went to Leeds University before travelling the world for 6 months. It was during this time he picked up his passion for food. For the past 10 years Ian has worked at his family run pub – The Bridge Inn, Grinton, in the Yorkshire Dales, alongside John.
